WE SUPPORT OUR CLIENTS IN ALL HOAI PHASES
From basic evaluation to property management
As general planners, we are well practiced in keeping all project participants on track and not losing focus - for large and small, regional and international projects and during all HOAI phases. We see the “big picture” and look for the best possible solution in the interests of the client.
We bring together experts in their respective fields (i.e., engineers in civil, electrical, mechanical and process engineering, as well as structural design and project management) to form requirement-specific teams that work together with the client on the path to project success.
We have been training specialized draftsmen in-house since 1975 and are now actively promoting the implementation of Building Information Modelling for engineering structures in water management, so that multi-layered planning can first become virtual reality and then reality.

HOW YOU GET THERE IS ALSO IMPORTANT

With almost 90 years of experience in general planning, we know that
projects are successful when expertise and team spirit come together. We plan in accordance with HOAI on behalf of cities, municipalities, water suppliers, and other public institutions. This means we also have an economic, ecological, and social responsibility that all our colleagues share.
Our engineering office is certified according to ISO 9001:2015 in the field of construction. This means we meet internationally recognized standards for quality management and guarantee structured, transparent processes. The certification confirms our commitment to implementing projects efficiently, reliably, and to the highest quality standards.
SEEING THE CONTEXT
We are involved in both large and small projects at home and abroad. Our challenge as general planners in water management is to account for the overall context.
- What exactly is needed and what is feasible?
- What is technically possible and what is sustainable?
- What is economical in the long-term?
We are able to implement the client's objectives in all HOAI project phases and develop customized solutions.

COMMITED TO THE PROJECT
The most obvious solution is not necessarily the best: if you want to optimize the design of hydraulic engineering structures, you must not limit yourself in your planning.
We have to examine variants and alternatives and constantly question the familiar. As an independent engineering office in general planning, we are not tied to any manufacturer or supplier and our employees have this freedom: to look for integrated environmental technology solutions that permanently combine economic efficiency and ecology with functionality and safety.

MAXIMUM TRANSPARENCY
We keep our clients informed at every stage of the HOAI
We not only have an overview of the construction technology and the project budget, but also of the legal and social framework conditions. In project coordination, as general planners we ensure open and clearly structured cooperation between all project participants, which creates trust and leads projects to success - crisis management included.

PLANNING SERVICES IN BIM PROJECTS
BIM is part of our digitalization strategy and an important innovation step for construction in the urban water management sector. We have been planning in 3D models since 2014 and have also been progressively aligning our planning processes with the BIM method. We are now BIM-ready and able to support clients with their first BIM projects.
The 3D model and a collaborative working platform in the cloud serve as a “single source of truth” for all project participants. The digital twin of the construction project brings together all the information from the individual specialist groups in one place. This creates transparency at an early stage and provides planning and budget certainty in all HOAI service phases.
BIM in HOAI – Work phase 1
In the basic determination phase, we support the client in the creation of a BIM development plan (BAP), which breaks down the information requirements for all service phases. At this point, formal requirements for the virtual model are also coordinated and, if necessary, existing buildings are modeled on the basis of point clouds.
It is essential to set up a shared data environment that all project participants are required to work with. The CDE (common data environment) serves as a “single source of truth” and is also the platform for planning approvals and task management.

BIM in HOAI – Work phases 2 and 3
In preliminary and design planning, the structures are visualized with the required level of detail. This creates partial and specialist models as well as overall coordination models that facilitate collaboration between the individual trades. The quality check and the planning progress of the individual variants are mapped in the CDE with model test reports. All necessary planning documents can be derived from the 3D models in 2D and the planning approvals are visible centrally and transparently for all CDE users.
The digital model of the construction project provides reliable information about the quantities of materials required and also allows a comprehensive, model-based cost calculation.

BIM in HOAI – Work phases 5 and 6
During the execution planning phase, the model becomes more and more detailed and is continuously checked and expanded by the respective specialist disciplines so that the construction process can ultimately be simulated. The result is a model-based scheduling of the construction work.
A comprehensive list of services can now be derived and a realistic cost estimate is possible - this completes the preparation for awarding the contract.

The construction progress can be documented on the 3D model. Changes, supplements and defects can be recorded directly in the planning documents. Effects on scheduling and project costs are immediately visible to all parties involved. Finally, the client has a complete “as-built” documentation of the building for project management.

What makes planning better with BIM?
Designing, implementing and managing - with Building Information Modelling, this happens centrally and simultaneously with all project participants. This creates transparency, provides security and enables cooperative decisions based on the expertise of the entire project team.
