Shortdescription
The overall programme objective is to achieve improved and sustainable access of the population in the programme areas to safe drinking water at socially acceptable and cost-covering tariffs and adequate sanitation through sewerage disposal whilst performance of the utilities is improved.

Projectdata
The Specific Programme Objectives (SPO) of the MIP IV are defined as:
(i) Achieve a technically sustainable operation and maintenance cost coverage of water supply and sanitation infrastructure;
(ii) Extent the water supply hours from currently 2 to 4 hours to at least 12 h water supply (as already envisaged for the areas served by the MUN II project, however target value to be defined in FS);
(iii) Increase the collection efficiency concerning water bills;
(iv) Improve sewerage disposal by additional connections;
(v) Achieve social affordability of the water and sewerage tariffs;
The Programme consists of two parts:
Component Part A: Feasibility Study:
Phase 1: Preparatory Phase, Conceptual Project Planning, FS.
• Concept Design for sewage system: Proposal for short-, mid-, long-term investments 29 km collectors DN 250 – DN 2000, overflow structures and sewage pumping stations
• Conceptual Design of WWTP: 1st Stage (2030) 180,000 PE, 2nd Stage (2040) 248,000 PE
• Sludge Management Concept: Thermal/ Solar Drying Sludge Facilities (TSSDF) for 248,000 PE final horizon 2045, sludge output 6,179 t/a, and sludge mass reduction 69%
Component Part B: Project Implementation:
Phase 2: Detailed Design and Tender Preparation
Phase 3: Construction Phase
Phase 4: Defects Notification Phase
Under the Programme MIP IV water supply and sanitation measures were implemented:
2,25 km transmission water pipelines ductile iron DN400-500, 70 km water distribution network ductile iron and HDPE DN200 – DN400, 4,220 water supply house connections, 4 wells, 2 potable water chlorination facilities, 1 two story administration building, 0,1 km concrete DN 2000 sewage channel and 0,1 km concrete sewage channel DN 1500.
