Short description

The two-stage Landshut wastewater treatment plant, built in the 1980s, no longer meets today's requirements for energy efficiency and nitrogen removal. In view of the growing population, the plant is to be converted into a single-stage activated sludge plant, with extensive use of existing basins.

After the converted primary treatment (currently Deni), the wastewater stream is divided. 20% flows to the converted old aeration plant and 80% to the newly constructed cascade denitrification plant. The existing secondary clarification tanks of the trickling filter plant will be converted into secondary clarification tanks for the activated sludge plant, as verified by a CFD simulation.

In an early measure, the old turbo compressors will be replaced with new units that can also be used in the expanded state.
